An ultrasound test may be ordered as a diagnostic tool to detect the cause of various conditions, including pain, swelling, and infections. A pregnant mother may undergo an ultrasound to view the developing fetus. As ultrasound tests do not involve radiation, these tests are safe for both baby and mother.

PREPARING FOR AN ULTRASOUND TEST

An ultrasound test requires very little preparation. When you arrive at Insite Radiology, we advise you to wear loose, comfortable clothing. Depending on the type of ultrasound ordered, you may be instructed to not eat or drink for 12 hours before your test, or asked to drink a specific quantity of water. The test is safe and does not involve any pain. The images created by the ultrasonic sound waves emitted by the device produces a 3D image.
